Want to do something different? Hang Gliding at Bald Hill?
For someone who has travelled extensively enjoying his sport of hang gliding Curt Warren is adamant that Bald Hill at Stanwell Park, south of Sydney, is regarded as one of the best sites of its type in the world.
Curt officially launched his new hang gliding business, Warren Windsports, last Friday. He had an immediate attachment for the area when he first visited in 2000 and now puts his experience and expertise into providing tandem hang gliding flights and lessons from Bald Hill.
Born and educated in Florida, Curt achieved a civil engineering degree at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, but took off into the world of professional hang gliding.
He began teaching the art in 1998 and in 2003 finished 10th in the world hang gliding championships before becoming the United States of America national champion in 2004 and again in 2006. Curt used his achievements in competitive hang gliding as a means to immigrate to Australia through the “distinguished talent” category in 2005.
Curt says his mission is to offer fun and professional flying experience using the combination of the best equipment and training techniques to suit everyone’s individual needs.

No initial experience is needed, he says. “Tandem flights are accessible to anybody. I’ve taken passengers from five years of age up to 92. It’s an amazing way to view the scenic coastline and also a great experience with which to celebrate a birthday,” he adds.
Tandem flights, Curt says, are very peaceful and a controlled form of personal flight, and every one of his customers gets and will continue to receive hands-on flying time.
The sport or pastime, whichever you prefer, he suggests, needs a touch of finesse and technique, as well as requiring decision making skills.
