Sharks scorched in State League Basketball
The Springwood Scorchers defeated the Sutherland Sharks 80 -72 in round eleven of the 2008 NSW State League Basketball competition.
The third-placed Scorchers always looked like grabbing victory over the fifth-placed Sharks on Saturday, taking a strong lead early and holding off the visitors for an impressive yet narrow 8-point win.

Sharks pounce on Hawks in WABL
The Sutherland Sharks men’s team continued their winning run in the Waratah Australian Basketball League last weekend. With a comfortable win over the Illawarra Hawks. With B J Carter (18 points) leading the way the Sharks won by 76 – 51.
With three wins in a row the Sharks are now in fourth spot.
Sharks 76 (B J Carter 18, Blake Stroh 12, Ben Conquista 11) defeated Illawarra Hawks 51 (Brad Simpson 13, Troy Pilon 11).
The women’s team had a bye last weekend. Next games for the Sharks in the Waratah Australian Basketball League are against the Hills Hornets at Sutherland Basketball Stadium on Saturday 31 May with the women tipping off at 5pm and the men at 7pm.
Sharks young guns lead soccer competitions
With over half the games played in the competition the Sutherland Sharks under 13 team leads their Premier Youth League Competition. Last weekend they had to work hard against Penrith Nepean United but ultimately prevailed 1 nil.
The under 14s also lead their competition after picking up a solid 2 nil win against fifth placed Penrith. The Sharks 16s also had 2 nil win but remain in 8th spot in the 12 team competition. The 15s and 18s both had narrow losses.

Under 18: Sharks lost 2 - 1
Under 16: Sharks won 2 nil
Under 15: Sharks lost 1 nil
Under 14: Sharks won 2 nil
Under 13: Sharks won 1 nil
