Today the mother of two, Sandon aged three years and one-year-old Ebony, has launched a new business ShadyBaby® Blanket Clips and already her innovative idea has become a popular market piece.
Her next step is to interest the larger stores and their buyers in the product, which comes in five different designs.
The new clip stops the wind blowing off the baby blanket and the children are better able to be protected from the elements and, as an added bonus, they can’t throw their blanket off themselves.

Born in Liverpool and educated at Picton High School, Melinda completed a diploma in beauty therapy before moving into the retail business specialising in jewellery and clothes.
Her mother had died of cancer at a young age and then her father was killed in a truck accident when she was pregnant with Ebony and by now, Melinda began to look for a new outlet.
“With Dad gone I wanted to inspire my children and the people around me,” she says.
Initially she drew various designs and had them undergo rigid safety checks, and then some months later it was time to have the baby blanket clips branded and manufactured.
As part of her ongoing marketing Melinda has been busy talking about her design to various mothers clubs and the like and she has put her hand up to be a sponsor for the Relay for Life program.

Melinda says her design is simple to apply but it works wonders for mothers who have to push prams.
It can also be used in your motor vehicle as shade protection over the car seat.
