For the past 27 years, Michael Kimber has run Kimber Optical, a family owned optometric business ,and over this time he has built a reputation based on strong ethics and great family values.
Kimber Optical offers the usual products and services expected of an optomerist, including eye examinations, prescription spectacles, sunglasses, contact lenses and other usual aids. But what sets Michael and his co-workers apart is the warm, family like atmosphere they provide for their customers when they walk through their doors.
Michael epitomises all things that are good about family and business; and has managed to take the what makes business and families successful to form an optimal environment for customers and staff alike.
Michael says, “Dealing with the general public everyday, as well as having a large family brings unique and exciting challenges. I’m a great believed that if you treat people the same way you would like to be treated, whether at home or at work, you know that they will always return or come looking for you for advice and guidance – and it’s worked for us so far.”
He openly attributes much of his success to the grounding and influence his father gave him and readily acknowledges that staff have been a huge help, and adds that his wife, Debbie, has been his major support, encouraging him and understanding the sacrifices that have to be made sometimes.
Michael says simply keeping up with the latest eyewear trends, technology, services and research can be difficult and means that he is constantly upgrading his skills and products.
Physically fitness is important to Michael who is an avid sport follower and watcher; and loves playing touch football and taking on the “youngsters”. If that’s not enough, he is also actively involved in the local social golf club, working on hitting the ball as long and as straight as he can.
A 20 year resident of the “Shire”, any spare time that Michael has during the week and on weekends is devoted to his wife and children as he tries to set an example for them to encourage the same qualities, ethics and family values he was taught in life and business.
