The Sutherland Sharks Waratah Australian Basketball League team had their 8 game winning streak broken by the Newcastle Hunters last weekend. The Hunters led by Daniel Proctor (20 points) and Joshua Morgan (16) took the game up to the Sharks and prevailed 85 – 63. Top scorers for the Sharks were Blake Henricks with 20 points, Ben Conquista (15) and Bj Carter (11). With the defeat the Sharks now drop to 2nd spot on the ladder just behind the Sydney Comets. In a double away loss, the Sharks women’s team could not match the 4th placed Hunters and went down 74 – 53. The Sharks are now 8th in the 12 team competition.

Sharks 13s show the way

With only catch up games over the last two weekends, the Sutherland Sharks 13s are the best placed local team in Premier Youth League. It tops the table 3 points clear of Marconi Stallions. The only other Sharks team likely to figure in the five team play-offs is the under 14s. While currently sitting in third spot 3 points behind leaders, Blacktown City, the Sharks 14s have a game in hand and could still top the table with 2 rounds to play.
The Sharks Premier Youth League teams take on West Sydney Berries next weekend with the 13s beginning proceedings at 9am on Saturday 26 July at Seymour Shaw Park.
